The Annual Afternoon tea event took place on Bank Holiday Monday under grey skies. A good crowd of people braved the weather to support us and enjoy copious supplies of sandwiches, scones, cream, strawberries and other goodies and thanks to God’s grace the end result , including gift aid from some very generous donations on the day and since , was nearly £2600. The trustees offer their sincere thanks to all those who came and to friends and family, who helped us set up, clear up ,maintain supplies to the garden and help man the various stalls and raffle .
Alex Grant gave us short update on his progress with runner friends Chester, Scott, Tom and Andy as they attempt to run 4858 miles in a year.
The story of little Aiswarya aged 9, in the red jumper, illustrates the benefit of the work of TREAD. The full story can be seen on our website https://www.friendsoftread.org to see the blog Postcards from India or go direct to https://postcardsfromindiasite.wordpress.com/ ,which now features her story under “Life on the edge” . It is a life of grinding poverty for her family of six doing their best to survive living in an area of little opportunity for employment. The TREAD project 200+ helps children like Aiswarya to receive the education they deserve and gives practical help to their families.
The Afternoon Tea will help us to maintain this support for children like Aiswarya
With our thanks Mandy, Colin and Janet for the trustees of Friends of TREAD
