Orphan Assistance Programme

TREAD India Trust has an Orphaned Children's Assistance Programme funded by Friends of TREAD through a sponsorship scheme which currently benefits over 30 youngsters. Each is educated, housed, clothed and fed. With no family to care for them, the alternative for some might have been street begging, child labour and even prostitution. The programme has expanded to accommodate the needs in this poverty stricken area of South India and now provides care under 3 main categories

Full Orphaned Assistance

Semi-Orphaned Assistance for youngsters, with one parent who struggles to earn a living.

Educational Assistance for bright teenagers who would benefit from further education but come from poor families who could not afford this. All school uniform, fees and accommodation costs are met by TREAD

How does the scheme work?
Many children need help and there are usually several on the waiting list. When a sponsor comes forward, Friends of TREAD liaise with TREAD India Trust and a child is selected.

The cost varies from £15 a month to provide this complete care for each child or sometimes £20 if the youngster is at college.

Can you afford £15 to £20 a month to sponsor an Orphan?
We are also in desperate need of funds for building work, a medical service, vehicles and equipment.
