Orphan Assistance ProgrammeTREAD India Trust has an Orphaned Children's Assistance Programme funded by Friends of TREAD through a sponsorship scheme which currently benefits over 30 youngsters. Each is educated, housed, clothed and fed. With no family to care for them, the alternative for some might have been street begging, child labour and even prostitution. The programme has expanded to accommodate the needs in this poverty stricken area of South India and now provides care under 3 main categories Full Orphaned Assistance Semi-Orphaned Assistance for youngsters, with one parent who struggles to earn a living. Educational Assistance for bright teenagers who would benefit from further education but come from poor families who could not afford this.
