Compassion Aided Day Care Centres

These are situated in a tribal belt around Podia in Orissa State , where the people are particularly poor and uneducated. The aim is to break into the cycle of apathy and resulting poverty.

The Sarah Child Development Centre opened in 2001 on a three and half acre site with Friends of TREAD providing the infrastructure and staffing. It now has 246 children attending daily with teaching before and after the school day. Meals, hygiene training and games are part of the daily scene. The Compassion East India branch of Compasssion International provides the sponsorship for the children and also uses the site as a training ground for staff .They were so impressed that they agreed to support children at two more nearby satellite centres run in a similar manner.

The Hannah CDC opened in nearby Dubathota at the end of 2004 and currently has 225 children attending daily.

The David CDC at Girkinpalli opened at the end of 2005 with 289 children and is still under development. Compassion would like to open an ante natal clinic on the site.

Compassion International now supports over 750,000 children in 23 countries. It is an evangelical Christian child development ministry dedicated to addressing the needs of children worldwide.

Can you afford £10 a month to sponsor a child at our TDCC?
We are also in desperate need of funds for building work, medical facility, vehicles and equipment.
